SSL Checker
Verify SSL and TLS certificate health for any domain
Identify potential security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in your server's SSL/TLS setup with a comprehensive health check.
Type a domain to check SSL and TLS certificate status.
Fast SSL Diagnostic Tool
Check a domain SSL and TLS certificate validity, identity, and trust in a single scan. Results are classified as VALID, WARNING, or INVALID so you can act quickly.
Understanding SSL/TLS Certificates
An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website's identity and enables an encrypted connection. TLS (Transport Layer Security) is the modern, more secure version of SSL. While the industry still commonly uses the term "SSL," modern certificates actually use the TLS protocol.
Our SSL Checker is a professional diagnostic tool designed to help website administrators, developers, and security professionals verify the installation and health of their certificates. By performing a real-time scan, you can ensure that your server is correctly configured to provide a secure environment for your users.
Why SSL is Critical for SEO
Since 2014, Google has officially confirmed that HTTPS is a ranking signal. Sites without a valid SSL certificate may be penalized in search results or marked as "Not Secure" by browsers like Chrome and Firefox, which significantly hurts user trust and conversion rates.
- 01.Improved Search Rankings: HTTPS-enabled sites receive a small ranking boost compared to HTTP sites.
- 02.User Trust: The padlock icon signifies that data transmitted (like passwords or credit cards) is protected.
- 03.Data Integrity: SSL ensures that data is not tampered with or corrupted during transit.
- 04.Referrer Data: Traffic from HTTPS to HTTP sites loses its referrer data in analytics, making SEO tracking harder.
Common Types of SSL Certificates
Domain Validation (DV)
The most common type, verified via DNS record or file upload. Ideal for blogs and personal websites.
Organization Validation (OV)
Requires business verification. Provides a higher level of trust for commercial websites.
Extended Validation (EV)
Requires rigorous vetting. Previously displayed the organization name in the address bar.
Troubleshooting Common SSL Errors
Expired Certificate
Certificates generally have a maximum lifespan of 398 days. If your certificate isn't renewed, browsers will block access to your site.
Hostname Mismatch
This occurs when the domain name in the address bar doesn't match a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) entry in the certificate.
Untrusted Chain / Root
This happens if the intermediate or root certificates are missing or if the certificate is self-signed and not trusted by the browser's root store.
How to use the SSL Checker
Simply enter your domain name (e.g., example.com) into the search field and click "Check". Our tool will connect to your server over port 443 and verify the following signals:
- Connection handshake over modern TLS protocols.
- Expiration date and validity period.
- Certificate authority (CA) trust status.
- Chain of trust integrity.
- Naked domain and subdomain support (SANs).
Note: For internal or local development certificates, the tool may report an error as it relies on public trust stores.
